Each Bot gets its own computer, signs into the apps you already use, and completes jobs end to end—returning only when it needs approval. It's live in beta today on Mac, iOS, Windows, and Linux, but access is gated behind premium subscriptions. Here's what Grok Bot actually is, who can use it, and how it compares to other agentic workspaces.
What is Grok Bot?
Grok Bot is an AI agent product from SpaceXAI, developed jointly with Cursor as the two companies move toward merging into a single firm. Instead of a chatbot that answers questions, each Bot is framed as a colleague that takes on tasks.
The core mechanics, per SpaceXAI's launch:
- Its own computer. Each Bot runs on a cloud-based machine and can access tools, apps, and websites to do work.
- Signs into your tools. Bots log into the services you use and operate them the way you would.
- End-to-end tasks. They complete jobs from start to finish and return only when approval is needed.
- Messaging interface. You talk to a Bot like you'd text a coworker—give it a task, close your laptop, and check in from anywhere.
- Memory. It stores conversation history, learns your preferences, and (the company says) improves with more use.
SpaceXAI says it ran Grok Bot as an internal prototype before the public release, using it for sales outreach, marketing campaigns, office operations, and bug fixes.
What can Grok Bot do?
The example workflows SpaceXAI highlights lean toward business operations rather than pure coding. According to the company, early users are running Bots to negotiate with vendors, manage support for online stores, and keep a CRM continuously updated.
That's a meaningful signal: this is positioned as a general-purpose work agent, not just a coding assistant. It's the "AI workforce" framing—an agent that lives across your inbox, apps, and internal tools—rather than an IDE copilot.
Who can use Grok Bot, and where?
Grok Bot is in early beta with limited access. Based on SpaceXAI's announcement:
- Platforms: Mac and iOS at launch, plus Windows and Linux desktop builds. Android is listed as coming soon.
- Access: restricted to SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra, and Cursor Teams Premium subscribers.
So this is not a free or open tier—you need a high-end SpaceXAI or Cursor plan to try it right now. That gating matters if you're evaluating it for a team: cost and seat availability are real constraints on day one.
Why the SpaceXAI + Cursor tie-up matters
Grok Bot is the first big product to come out of the SpaceXAI–Cursor relationship. Cursor brings deep agentic-coding tooling and a large developer base; SpaceXAI brings the Grok models and cloud infrastructure. Fusing a coding-agent lineage with a general work-agent product is a clear shot at the same "agentic workspace" category that OpenAI and Anthropic are chasing with their own desktop agents.

- Cloud vs. local. Each Grok Bot runs on its own cloud computer. Convenient, but your logins, data, and task context live on SpaceXAI's infrastructure—a real consideration for regulated or privacy-sensitive teams.
- Single agent vs. multi-agent. Grok Bot is pitched as individual teammates. Some workflows benefit more from a coordinated team of specialized agents (a researcher, a developer, an ops agent) working in parallel.
- Open vs. closed. Access is subscription-gated and the product is proprietary. If you want to inspect it, self-host, or bring your own keys, that's off the table here.
None of these make Grok Bot bad—but they're the exact axes to check before you commit a workflow to it.
The catch: gated, cloud-only, and early
Grok Bot is genuinely interesting, but temper expectations. It's beta software, locked behind premium tiers, and cloud-hosted by default. The "close your laptop and it keeps working" promise is compelling; whether the Bots are reliable enough to trust with unsupervised vendor negotiations or live customer support is exactly what the beta will reveal. As with any autonomous agent, the approval gate is doing a lot of the safety work.
